well just get some friends and tell them.then spread the word.charge a certain price.and if you wanna do it real fancy then get like a man OR woman and they’ll handle the money like in casinos.
As to needing a license, in just about any state it is illegal to play poker outside of a casino or other approved location. Though this law is rarely enforced you should not openly advertise your tournaments.
Here in Chicago, it is illegal to charge a “house fee.” This means you can not host a tournament and charge everyone a fee to cover snacks, drinks, etc. There have been a couple of busts of people who held tournaments and charged fees. One guy’s big mistake was advertising publicly on the internet. Another guy was busted when the wife of one of his guests called the police because she was tired of him going out and playing poker.
So, if you decide to host a tournament, remember to stay below the radar. Invite only people you know and trust. Allow them to invite friends but let them know they are responsible for those friends.
Have fun.

Basacially just spread the word around. Start off with your friends tell them, and have them tell theirs and so on.
Charge like 5$ (or more) per person and keep 1$ per person for the house charge.

There are several computer programs you can run that you can run off your laptop to take care of timing the blinds, etc.
